The Team

Brian Bauer

  • Mr. Bauer played a key founding role at TriAccess Technologies, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing from inception to exit (acquired by TriQuint Semiconductor). Mr. Bauer was business unit manager at TriQuint, bringing the entity to market leadership and high profitability. (TriQuint acquired by Qorvo). Mr. Bauer has extensive experience marketing complex systems at major communications equipment manufacturers including Advanced Fibre Communications, Motorola, Gluon Networks, and NextLevel Communications.  Mr. Bauer has established himself as a telecom industry leader, building sales and marketing programs covering over 50 countries globally, and now brings his stalwartness to the recycling and recovery space. Mr. Bauer graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and from UCLA Anderson School of Business Management.

Jens Umehag

  • Jens Umehag is a strategic and commercial operator CFO with a deep understanding of technology and B2B. He brings over 20 years of international experience from BP plc (Downstream), Halma plc (CFO Medical & Environmental Sectors, Ventures) as well as startups. In these roles he has driven international expansion and growth via M&A, innovation and partnerships, in addition to financial leadership and governance. He has served on boards across US (Valencell), Israel (Owlytics), UK (Vapar), NL (OneThird) as well as Finland (Optomed Oyj), where he was part of audit committee. He holds a bachelor’s in International Business from European Business School in London.

Sasha Kosek

  • Mr. Kosek studied pyrolysis as an undergraduate research lead, where he characterized catalyst activity and process conditions on the degradation of various plastics. After earning his B.S. from Oregon State University in chemistry and co-authoring research on the inkjet printing of a thin-film perovskite semiconductor, Sasha joined Resynergi to pursue his passion for environmental and scientific progress. His areas of focus are the chemical makeup of feedstocks and products, catalysis, process engineering, and new technology integration.

Tyler Spott

  • Mr. Spott received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Sonoma State University. He currently serves as Senior Engineer and oversees daily operations at Resynergi’s pilot plant. Mr. Spott has extensive experience in PLC programming, skid manufacture, and process design. As an early employee, Mr. Spott was responsible for the procurement, assembly, and testing of Resynergi’s pilot pyrolysis system. His engineering contributions to Resynergi’s pyrolysis reactor have allowed higher throughput and reliability while operating more efficiently.

Roger Ruan, Ph.D.

  • Dr. Ruan is the Director of Center for Biorefining and a Professor and Director of Graduate Studies of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota. He is a Fellow of ASABE, IFT, and Vebleo, and a top-cited author with an h-index of 72 and i10-index of 323 (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=seJPiQkAAAAJ&hl=en). His research interests include thermochemical and biological conversion for solid wastes including waste plastics and liquid wastes utilization, value-added processing, and food engineering. One of the courses he teaches at the University of Minnesota is Renewable Energy Technologies.

John Bergeron

  • Mr. Bergeron has worked with Resynergi since its inception in 2015, and handles daily operations, business transactions, and oversees legal matters. Mr. Bergeron received a B.A. from the University of San Francisco.

Mustapha Nadri

  • Mr. Nadri is a mechanical design engineer with a background in power plants and HVAC controls, 3-D modeling design for manufacturing, computational fluid dynamics/heat transfer analysis, finite element analysis, turbo-machinery design and GD&T. Before joining the workforce, Mr. Nadri did research on friction losses in bearings and seals under various conditions for Parker Hannifin-Aerospace Group during and after completing his mechanical engineering studies at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Spencer Wheat

  • Mr. Wheat attended Arizona State University and received his BSE in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Systems) with a secondary focus in technical entrepreneurship and management. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Resynergi team as a Systems Engineer. Mr. Wheat brings experience with 3D CAD programs, materials in high-temperature settings, and knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
